According to the rules, players must build a fort and place the walnut game piece at least 1 vertical building block above the building surface. This can be achieved in many ways, the 2 most simplest methods are shown in the picture.
It’s not recommended to place the game piece much higher than 1 vertical building block. If you do, its much easier for your opponent to shoot down.
It’s best to place your game piece at the minimum height.
A strong fort needs to be stable and hard to collapse.
There are 2 main ways to significantly improve stability.
Add Weight
You can place more blocks stacked above your game piece. This will add weight pressing down on everything below, making it stronger. Your enemy will have to shoot the top blocks first, before they can crumble any other parts.
Building Wide
Another way to achieve stability is to build wider. For example, you can build another layer of walls around your fort.
Pro tip: place your build on a hard surface, a good foundation is key to a strong fort
An exposed game piece is easy to shoot down. Don’t place it out in the open.
You can build with gaps between the blocks to create a crumple zones. This style of building improves absorption of impact, but can deform the fort quickly.
