Gamemodes

Pick from our assortment of gamemodes to play. We recommend you start with the Classic 1v1 gamemode, as it’s the simplest one, and then check out the others.

Classic 1v1

Classic 1v1

Ages 8+
10-15 Min
1-4 Players

Goal

The objective of the game is to build a fort to protect your game piece, and then engage in medieval battle by using the catapult to topple your opponent’s forts. Last one with their game piece not touching the floor wins!

Gameplay

The gameplay consists of the building phase and the siege phase.

Building Phase

Each player builds their fort to defend their game piece against the oncoming siege! When building your fort, you should aim to have your structures around 1m apart from each other. More importantly, you must place your game piece at least 1 vertical building block above the floor.

Siege Phase

The player who woke up first today initiates the siege and play continues in clockwise order. Once the siege has begun, you are no longer allowed to touch or adjust your fort. Within this phase, players take turns using the Catapult to shoot 2 Battle Blocks at their opponent’s forts. When shooting, players can freely choose
their target but must keep the Catapult in close proximity to their own fort. After each player’s turn the Battle Blocks are collected and passed to the next player shooting. During the siege if a Battle Block lands on top of your fort, you can only remove it once the other player has ended their turn. But be careful when removing them – you don’t want to further crumble your fort!

The last player with their Game Piece not touching the floor wins!

And yes, if your Game Piece falls on top of your crumbled fort’s rubble you are still in the game. However, if any part of the Game Piece makes contact with the floor – you are out and cannot participate in the next round. For example, if Player #1 in the turn order knocks Player #2’s Game Piece down to the floor, the round is played to its conclusion and Player #2 still has their turn at shooting the catapult. If several players’ Game Pieces are knocked to the floor in the same round, the tie breaker is to count the number of building blocks not touching the floor – the player with the most wins.

Active Defender

Required1 Set
10-15 Min
1-4 Players

This gamemode plays the same as Classic 1v1, with a few changes that increase the pace of the game.

When you don’t have the catapult, you’re the active defender. You’re allowed to pick up blocks off the floor and fix your fort. However, if your hand gets hit by a catapult projectile, you can’t repair your fort with it.

The active defender can’t touch or attempt to move their game piece.

When the attacker is done shooting, they must pass the catapult to the defender. Once the defender has the catapult in their hands, the roles switch.

The attacker needs to shoot as quickly as possible to minimise the amount of repairing the active defender can do.

Free For All

Required2 Sets
10-15 Min
1-4 Players

This gamemode arises when there are 3 or more people playing, which creates an additional layer of strategy and diplomacy. Players get to choose to target whoever they want, so be careful and avoid being double teamed on.

Please note: A player still gets to shoot the catapult on their turn if the round hasn’t finished yet, even if they were eleminated. This rule makes the game fairer by giving each player the same number of shots of the catapult.

There are three strategies in Free For All.

1. Shooting the strongest, least damaged fort. Doing so decreases their odds at winning.

2. Spreading out your attacks on all the players. This tactic keeps your stance more neutral and makes it less likely for you to get double teamed on. But if you have, use the next strategy.

3. Targeting a specific player to eliminate them early. Target the player that has already used up their turn in the current round. This prevents them from retailating.

Teams 2v2

Required2 Sets
10-15 Min
1-4 Players

This gamemode plays like Classic 1v1, but players split into teams. Each team defends 2 gamepieces.

With your team, you may combine your blocks to form one, powerful structure, or you can build seperate forts. If you both can’t agree to combine your blocks, then each teammate gets equal blocks and builds seperately, defending their own gamepiece.

The team that has finished building first, shoots first. When its their turn, both players of a team have 2 shots each, but can agree to let one person shoot 4 times instead.

The first team to knock down both enemy gamepieces to the floor is victorious.

The Siege

Required1 Set
10-15 Min
1-4 Players

In this gamemode, one player is the defender, who gets all of the blocks, and needs to protect 2 gamepieces.

The other player is the attacker. Their goal is to knock both enemy gamepieces to the floor in the least amount of shots they can.

Then, the roles swap and the second round plays out the same as the first. With the attacker trying to use less shots than the opponent did in the last round.

After both rounds, the player that took the least number of shots to knock both gamepieces down, wins. If both players took the same number of shots, it is a tie.

Twists

Twists are quick, simple and fun rules you can add to ontop of existing gamemodes to spice up the gameplay more!

The Pillage

The Pillage

When you knock off blocks from your opponent’s base, you can add them to your base.

The Reserve

Before building, you may set aside some blocks that you may use at any point of the game to fortify your castle (apart from when your fort is under seige at the moment).

When using the reserve, you may not nudge existing blocks when placing new ones.

The Gamble

Before shooting, you can choose to roll a 6-sided die (not included in our products). If it lands on an even number, you can take an extra shot that round. If you roll an odd number, you get minus one shot.
